Bowie CLAW would like to thank everyone for coming out to our annual Blanket Drive that was held October 15th at TJ Elliott’s! Save those blankets and look for us again this year!
Your donations help keep the animals at the shelter a little warmer and give them something to try and snuggle into to try and make their stay and little less stressful. We’d also like to offer a special thank you to Jimmy Marcos, owner of TJ Elliott’s for the donation of hot chocolate and for letting us hold our event at your restaurant.
A Note from the Event Coordinator:
I have coordinated this blanket drive since its inception years ago, and it is always so pleasantly overwhelming for me. This is a curbside event; you can either pull your vehicle up and we have volunteers that will unload your vehicle, or you can park and bring your items up to where we are sorting them. We had the opportunity to meet so many great people. Of course, we have our awesome Bowie residents that come out, but people came from everywhere. We met people that came from Washington, DC, another family from Virginia, and one from Calvert County. Staff from Buck Lodge Middle School had a separate drive at their school to support our drive. Many people brought laundry baskets filled with brand new blankets! We also had beautiful handmade bedding for the cats and dogs made by the wonderful St. Paul’s Quilter’s. They make beds for the animals at County throughout the year. Thank you for your continued support. Because of everyone’s kindness and compassion for animals, we were able to fill a box truck to the brim! Thank you again and we will see you next October!
